Roberto Clemente, Jr. signing autographs for members of the Legal Eagles of Curwensville. Clemente, Jr. also played baseball at the minor league level. He was signed in 1984, by the Philadelphia Phillies and was plagued by injuries. Eventually, the Philles organization signed him him to their organization, joining their division A-team. He insisted on making the major leagues and he traveled to Puerto Rico and played winter baseball league, with the Arecibo Wolves team. A serioes of injuries prevented Clemente Jr. from making the major leagues after being traded to the San Diego Padres organization. Determined to make the majors leagues, Clemente Jr. traveled to Venezula, where he became a well known player, but, during try outs with the Baltimore Orioles, he suffered a career ending injury to his back.
