The Clearfield County Commissioners recognized the Legal Eagle program at Curwensville Elementary. The Commissioners signed a proclamation that accounts for the hard work of the program and the knowledge the children receive as a result. In back, Commissioner Gene Lunsford, far left and Commissioner John Sughrue, far right, flank the teachers and organizers of the program. The Clearfield County Legal Eagle program, sponsored by Clearfield County Crime Stoppers and Young Lawyers, was also recognized by the American Bar Association as one of the top 10 programs in the country and in army bases worldwide. Mark Falvo, Crime Stoppers chairman, said this is the first time the program received an honor that high. In 1990, 91, 97 and 98, the program received public service awards.
